• The Challenge Manually gauging oil and gas tank inventory at fuel terminals is inefficient. But gauging is a necessary safety procedure. And any equipment installed at fuel tank sites needs to meet Class 1 Division 2 approvals. • The Solution Our customers connected the level sensors on the tanks to B&B Electronics’ 900 MHz long range wireless radio modems. A master radio modem at the control/monitoring station gathers the tank level data from the remote radios and passes it along to the central SCADA or PLC. Our radio modems are Class 1, Div 2 certified and thus suitable for the tank farm environment. It’s off-the-shelf technology, it works, and it’s easy to use.
