City of Helsinki Expands Digitalization with Citywide Digital Twin
The City of Helsinki created a citywide digital twin to support smarter, more sustainable urban development. Using Bentley applications, they modeled the city’s 500-square-kilometer area, integrating legacy data and real-time updates. The open platform enhances planning, public collaboration, and services like flood risk and solar analysis. The Kalasatama district served as a pilot for citizen engagement and environmental planning. The twin is accessible to residents and used in education, gaming, and tourism. This project supports Helsinki’s carbon-neutral goals and is a model for future digital city initiatives.
