Client: CEF - City Electrical Factors Location: Durham, England Project Size: 2,000 Sq M Designers: FaulknerBrowns Architects LLP Project Management: Gleeds Dealer: Workpattern As the owner-occupier of the building, CEF didn’t feel compelled to gain environmental accreditation, despite wanting the project to be as ‘green’ as possible. Intelligent LED lighting, water-cooled frames, extensive thermal mass harvesting from the concrete structure and the selection of ‘green guide’ finishes all contributed to it achieving an EPC rating of A for energy use. The scheme’s wellbeing strategy, meanwhile, considered air and water quality, acoustic performance, natural light, internal planting and external views of the countryside beyond the building.
