Catalytic Mu?er for Caterpillar Underground Mining Caterpillar Underground Mining required a manufacturer to design, develop and supply a catalytic oxidation mu?er for ?rst ?t installation in their extreme duty mining vehicles. Challenge The catalytic oxidation mu?ers were expected to provide a combination of noise reduction, low levels of nitrogen dioxide and high removal e?ciencies in carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and soluble fraction of particulate matter. A durability of 10000 hours was required. Solution DCL supplied an all-stainless steel packaged catalytic oxidation mu?er with brazed metal substrate. Extensive noise engineering and FEA work was conducted to meet design targets for noise, emissions and mechanical durability. No mechanical failures since the year 2000.
