Buslingthorpe Mills, Leeds

Peter Brett (PBA) | Buslingthorpe Mills, Leeds A team led by PBA secured planning permission for the redevelopment of the Buslingthorpe Mills site near Leeds. A fire severely damaged the historic 19th century tannery mill complex in 2011, leading to its substantial demolition. Now however, this derelict site is set to receive a new lease of life creating up to 122 net additional jobs and generating a multi-million pound boost to the local economy. The mixed-use scheme comprises a total of 32,000 ft2 of new retail floorspace, including a foodstore and a range of non-food retail units, together with up to 300 m2 of floorspace for a hot food takeaway. In addition, there will also be ten industrial units amounting to a total of 24,000 ft2 and a separate 1,500 ft2 café fronting the site.
