CASE STUDIES DATA CENTER DESIGN Brookhaven National Laboratory Upton, NY Lizardos designed the MEP systems for the new building to house a 6600 square foot data center. The data center has space for 136 EIA Racks and an Automated Tape Robot Library and is dedicated to high energy physics research. Cooling for the computer equipment is provided by 15 Liebert Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units distributing air into a raised floor plenum. The CRAC units utilize chilled water from the central chilled water plant. New piping was designed to support 400 tons of cooling.
