VSH XPress Broadmoor Hospital Pegler Valve Broadmoor Hospital was originally completed in 1863 and was built to house those that were clinically insane. Additions to the building have been made over the years to specifically house men which has included notorious reprobates such as Ronald Kray and Peter Sutcliffe. Project Profile More recently Kier Construction was awarded £242m to complete a new building project within the existing estate. The project will see the 150-year-old estate be transformed into a fit-for-purpose facility that will enhance quality, safety and security as well as producing greater efficiencies when the new patients arrive in 2017.
