BOSTIK XTREME FIX Queensland’s Legacy Way Tunnel Site: Legacy Way Tunnel, Queensland Product: Bostik Xtreme Fix Volume: 16,000 cartridgesThe Legacy Way Tunnel stretches around 4.6km connecting the Western Freeway at Toowong with the Inner City Bypass at Kelvin Grove. The project consisted of an integrated team of 3 principals: BMD Constructions, Ghella, and Acciona. The tunnel was fabricated using two tunnel boring machines (TBM’s) that were 12.4m in diameter and 110m in length. The tunnel ring was placed as the TBM’s progressed. Each ring consisted of 9 precast elements; the perimeter of each had an EPDM gasket bonded with sealant. More than 4,300 rings and a total of 120,000m 3 of concrete were used.
