Striving to Protect Patient Data The client is a regional hospital that provides comprehensive, community-based acute healthcare services. It operates three facilities in Texas with space for 500 patients, and also serves as a regional referral center for communities in parts of New Mexico. Being relatively new, the hospital’s information security team had limited tools available to combat the same breaches and cyberattacks faced by much larger organizations. These challenges were compounded by the hospital’s scattered user base and the need to protect patients’ privacy and prevent HIPAA violations.
