BBC New Broadcasting House, London New LED lighting and controls installed at New Broadcasting House came about when the Client first piloted this in Merseyside, looking at LED replacements. Factors that they wanted to improve were reduced glare, flicker and improved comfort for the staff. Energy targets had to be reached to secure the business case for each site and these included the reduction of carbon by at least 10% and reduction of energy by at least 20%. This is part of the Charter taking into account energy consumption from 2015 up to 2022. Energy savings at New Broadcasting House and other buildings are difficult, but lighting is one of the only areas where the load can be reduced in these 24 hour buildings.
