ARCHANGELSKGEOLDOBYCHA:
PROBLEM Throughout their operational history, AGD had never utilised a data base when collecting their geological data, instead relying on their geologists to save data separately. The lack of a centralised system resulted in increased operation time and costs due to geologists having to constantly revalidate and report accurate figures. AGD also faced the challenge of migrating data from their field office to their head office in Archangelsk, which was over 130km away. Physically transporting the data could cost the operation a days’ worth of work which went against the company’s aim to maximise efficiency. The company also had difficultly saving data from hydrogeological boreholes for further analysis and modeling. The costs associated with processing the data were proving
