Case Study
Aquifer on Marshall Islands
Project Description In 2013, Moana Marine worked with the USAID and IOM (International Organisation for Migration) to deliver portable Spectra Aquifers, powered by solar panels. They were rapidly deployed to drought affected atolls of the Marshall Islands. Moana Marine trained and empowered local technicians to set up and operate the Aquifers. The requirements included: • To eliminate associated energy footprint of fresh water production and provide a continous source of pure drinking water with zero carbon footprint • To eliminate costs of shipping expensive gasoline or diesel for power generators or bottled water (complete off-grid operation) • To empower local technicians to grow independency When drought occurs on small islands of the Marshall Islands, it is of vital importance
