Appalachian State University Installs Filtrine Water Bottle Filling Stations on Campus to Support Their Core Values | Filtrine Location Boone, NC Challenge Appalachian State University (ASU) is part of the 17-campus North Carolina public university system and is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Back in the late 1960s, ASU asked Filtrine to build water chilling, purifying and dispensing equipment for their cafeteria. In 2008, their facilities manager started looking for a water bottle filling station for their Student Union. Appalachian State University wanted to reduce the use of disposable water bottles with the goal of eliminating them altogether.
