The OneSKY Australia Program, a collaboration between Airservices Australia and the Department of Defence, aims to unify civil and military air traffic management through Thales’ Civil Military Air Traffic Management System (CMATS). To secure privileged user access across interconnected and air-gapped networks, Thales implemented an Access Management and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) system using PKI-based smartcards. The system authenticates users via encrypted private keys while providing in-house card management for registration, renewal, and PIN updates. This solution enhances security, ensures compliance, and offers a seamless user experience across all access points.
