A Remarkable Restoration Repair and conservation of Venus and Cupid statue... Project overview Cranford Estate in Middlesex was once a fine country estate owned by the Berkeley family (1618 to 1918). Sadly, the house was demolished c.1944 but in the 1950s the remains of the estate became a public park, now known as Cranford Countryside Park. Many fragments of the former landscape remained including an 18th century block, walled garden and a marble statue depicting Venus and Cupid. The statue, discovered by the River Crane which flows through the landscape, was positioned within the information centre as part of a display about the park’s history and wildlife.
