2110 Consult Survey Famous Daily Express Building, Manchester We carried out a Building Survey at the Grade II listed Daily Express Building on Great Ancoats Street in Manchester. Built in 1939 as the North of England headquarters of the Daily Express newspaper, Sir Owen Williams’ ‘streamline moderne’ design, with art deco features and a futuristic glazed façade, has been cited by Norman Foster as one of his top five favourite buildings in the world. To support an acquisition by Resolution Property, we were instructed to carry out a building survey of the property in summer 2015. The 75,600 sq. ft. commercial office building had been converted from a print works in 1995 and was in a general state of disrepair, having lain empty for over five years.
