1776 EYE ST. NW ROOFTOP BASKETBALL COURT
EXTRA ORDINARY DELIVERED 1776 EYE ST. NW ROOFTOP BASKETBALL COURT Washington, D.C. Construction Management OPPORTUNITY Transwestern’s Mid-Atlantic Construction Management Services team was retained to oversee the construction of an office rooftop basketball court at 1776 Eye St. NW in Washington, D.C. The project was unique and challenging because the court was to be constructed directly above an occupied floor. SOLUTION ? The court was constructed with concrete slabs floating on a grid of springs to absorb the vibrations and insulate sound. RESULTS The sound insulation method was successful, and tenants on the top floor cannot hear basketballs bouncing when people play on the court.
